The voice of the forest

WE ARE A NATIONAL NETWORK OF FOREST GUARDIANS.

Forest Keeper is the only major conservation organization focused on protecting national forests. We are national forest watchdogs who protect over 20 million acres of national forests in the United States. We work in the field, in the courtroom, and in Congress to secure strong, permanent protections for forests.

Forest Keeper actively monitors and advocates for the wildest and most ancient forests, and we ensure that clean water, scenic views, rare species, and sustainable recreation are prioritized in forest management. Forest Keeper investigates forest issues, monitors timber harvests and pipeline construction, and uses legal and political muscle to protect public lands. Our education and outreach programs help the public participate in forest planning. We also work with agencies and landowners to plant trees, maintain trails, and clean streams. We advocate for interconnected forests and strong, permanent protections for public lands.

Forests belong to all of us. Too often, however, they are managed to serve the interests of fossil fuel companies and extractive industries. Forest Keeper ensures that public is not cut out of public lands.

Forests are vital to our long-term health. They provide carbon storage, climate resilience, rare species protection, recreational opportunities, sustainable ecotourism, clean drinking water, and a healthy future for all.
